What Louisiana Pathways Does for Providers

Pathways assigns you a career level based on your education, training hours, and experience in early childhood care. For Family Child Care providers, your Pathways profile becomes the official record that LDOE and local CCR&R agencies use to verify your qualifications. The system tracks:

• Completed training hours (including your annual 12-hour continuing education requirement)
• CDA credentials, associate degrees, and bachelor's degrees in early childhood
• Pre-service orientation and health/safety training completions
• Professional development workshops from CCR&R agencies

Your Pathways level directly affects your eligibility for scholarships through Louisiana's T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood program, which covers tuition for CDA certification and associate degree programs. How to Enroll

Visit Northwestern State University's Pathways portal at nsula.edu/pathways and create a provider profile. You will need your name, contact information, Social Security number, and documentation of your current education level and training completions.

Enrollment is free. Once your profile is active, start uploading training certificates and transcripts. Pathways staff review submissions and assign your initial career level, typically within a few weeks.

The connection between Pathways and money is straightforward. Providers who pursue Academic Approval under Bulletin 140 enter the state's quality rating system, which uses CLASS observation scores to measure teacher-child interactions. Your Pathways-documented qualifications factor into the coaching and support you receive from your local CCR&R.

Academically approved providers with strong quality ratings qualify for quarterly CCAP bonus payments of up to 23% of the base subsidy rate. They also may qualify for School Readiness Tax Credits for the business, for individual staff members, and for the parents of enrolled children. A current Pathways profile helps document credentials for scholarships and tax-credit certifications, but it is one part of the broader CCAP and Academic Approval process.

Keeping Your Profile Updated

Every time you complete a training, earn a new credential, or finish a college course, upload the documentation to Pathways. An outdated profile means your career level stays frozen, which limits your scholarship and tax credit eligibility.

The 12 clock hours of annual continuing education that Bulletin 139 requires for FCC providers should all be recorded in Pathways. If you attend a workshop through your local CCR&R or complete an LDOE-approved online course, the hours may be reported automatically — but verify by logging in.
