How to Register on EdLink for Louisiana Child Care Providers

Every Louisiana provider who wants to accept CCAP subsidies or pursue Academic Approval needs an EdLink account — and the registration process trips up more people than you would expect. The Louisiana Department of Education's EdLink portal at lep.edlink.la.gov is where you submit your Family Child Care registration, upload credentials, and manage your certification status. If you skip a step or upload the wrong document format, your application sits in a queue while families on your waiting list find care somewhere else.

What EdLink Actually Does for Daycare Providers

EdLink is the LDOE's central platform for early childhood providers. It handles your FCC registration application, CCAP provider certification, credential uploads, and communication with the department. Think of it as the central provider portal for the registration and certification work the state needs from you.

The portal replaced older paper-based application workflows. As of July 1, 2026, Louisiana's CCAP data workflow uses three systems — Family Central for parent applications, KinderTrack for LDOE's internal eligibility and payment processing, and KinderConnect for provider authorizations, remittance advice, manual invoice verification, and weekly attendance submissions. These systems serve separate parts of the CCAP workflow.

How to Create Your EdLink Account

Start at lep.edlink.la.gov and select the option for new provider registration. You will need your government-issued photo ID, Social Security number, and a working email address that you check regularly. LDOE sends time-sensitive verification requests to this email, and missing one can delay your registration by weeks.

Once your account is active, you will see a dashboard with sections for each stage of the certification process. The key uploads you need to complete before your application can move forward:

  • Government-issued photo ID (driver's license or state ID)
  • Social Security card
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification from an LDOE-approved provider
  • Medication Administration course completion certificate
  • Key Orientation Training Module completion records
  • IRS Form W-9 for tax reporting
  • Direct deposit authorization with a voided check or official bank letter
  • Emergency preparedness plan for your home

Upload all documents in a single session if possible. Partial submissions go to the back of the processing queue.

Common Registration Mistakes That Cause Delays

The most frequent problem is uploading expired certifications. Your Pediatric CPR and First Aid card must be current at the time of upload — not "expiring next month." The second most common issue is mismatched names between your government ID and your W-9. If you recently changed your name, update your Social Security card first before registering.

Another stumbling block is the emergency preparedness plan. This is not optional. An application missing the evacuation route, emergency contact numbers, and procedures for severe weather can be held up while LDOE requests the missing information. The Louisiana Home Daycare Registration Sequencer walks you through the exact format the state expects for this document.

After Registration: What Happens Next

Once all documents are uploaded and your CCCBC background check clears, LDOE schedules a physical inspection of your home within 30 days. You will receive the scheduling notification through EdLink, so check the portal and your registered email consistently.

After you pass the home inspection, your FCC registration goes active and you can submit your CCAP Provider Certification application through the same EdLink dashboard. That application requires a separate Provider Agreement — a standalone document introduced under Bulletin 139 that is distinct from your annual renewal.

The complete registration-to-certification timeline typically runs two to six months, depending on how quickly you gather documents and how fast your CCCBC background check processes through IDEMIA.

Tips for a Smooth EdLink Experience

Keep a dedicated folder on your computer with scanned copies of every document you upload. EdLink sessions can time out, and re-scanning documents from scratch wastes hours. Save your confirmation emails from every upload — they are your proof of submission if anything gets lost in the system.

If your account locks or you cannot access a section of the dashboard, contact LDOE's Division of Early Childhood Care and Education directly rather than creating a second account. Duplicate accounts create matching errors in the background check system that can take months to untangle.

For the full document checklist and a step-by-step sequencing guide that maps every EdLink upload to the correct stage of your registration, the Louisiana Home Daycare Licensing Guide covers the entire process from first login to active certification.
