Casper: The contractor license is $300 up front, $150 annually. A Mechanical Master license costs $75 initial, $37.50 renewal. Journeyman credentials are $25 initial, $15 renewal. Apprentice registration is just $3.

Laramie: Contractor license runs $300 initially, but only $35 to renew — the cheapest annual renewal among major cities. Master qualification costs $20 initial and $15 to renew. Journeyman is $15 initial, $10 renewal. Apprentice is $10 initial, $5 renewal. One catch: every Laramie license expires December 31 regardless of when you got it, and missing the deadline means paying the full initial fee again.

Gillette: The specialty trade contractor fee is $150. Gillette also mandates a $5,000 surety bond (annual premium typically around $100 for contractors with good credit). No other major Wyoming city requires this bond.

State-Level Business Costs

Before pursuing a city contractor license, account for these state-level registrations; some depend on your business and workforce:
