LVIS360: Indiana's Educator Licensing Portal Explained

What Is LVIS 360?

LVIS 360 — the Licensing Verification and Information System — is the Indiana Department of Education's (IDOE) online application and account system for educator licenses and permits. It supports applications, renewals and other updates, document submissions, payments, status checks, and viewing or printing licenses. The options you see depend on your credential and application path.

The current sign-in flow uses the state's Access Indiana service. The portal is at license.doe.in.gov.

Who Uses LVIS 360

LVIS serves three audiences:

Individual educators use it to apply for initial licenses, renew existing credentials, upload transcripts and training certificates, pay fees, and check application status. Whether you're a first-time applicant out of an EPP or a veteran teacher adding a content area, this is the system.

School corporation personnel use a Work Queue to review and approve applications such as substitute, emergency, and Transition to Teaching permits, and to check application statuses.

The public can use the portal's Public Data page for educator-license and offense searches. The educator search covers Indiana licensure and licensure history; the separate offense search covers certain revoked or suspended licenses and permits.

How to Access LVIS 360

Go to license.doe.in.gov, click Sign In, and choose Access Indiana. If you already have an LVIS account, the IDOE setup guide recommends registering in Access Indiana with the email previously associated with that LVIS account. If you cannot use that email, follow the account-retrieval option shown in the setup guide.

Once signed in, complete the required educator-profile fields. LVIS may prevent application actions until your profile data is validated against existing records.

Keep your profile information consistent with the records you submit, and follow the portal's account-retrieval instructions if an existing record is not found.

What You Can Do Inside the Portal

Apply for an Initial License

LVIS highlights missing materials and will not let you submit until the required parts of the application are complete. Depending on the license or permit, you may need an official transcript showing the degree earned and date conferred, along with required training certificates. IDOE lists CPR/AED/Heimlich, suicide prevention, human trafficking, and child abuse and neglect training among its educator-licensing requirements; the exact timing and applicability vary by credential. Follow the criminal-history instructions shown for your application, and remember that a school district may require a separate employment screening.

At the time of checking in September 2026, IDOE lists a $35 evaluation fee for applications that require an evaluation, including many out-of-state applications, and a separate $35 license or permit fee. A transaction processing fee may also apply, and IDOE states that its fees are non-refundable.

Renew or Update a License

Renewals, conversions, professionalizations, and additions also use LVIS, but the required documents depend on the action. For a PGP-based renewal, record and submit the PGP in LVIS; upload coursework, endorsement, or training documentation when the application asks for it.

Check Application Status

Use Application Status to see the details and last status change for an application. The portal's processing notice says that applications in “DOE Material Review” are being processed and that additional action requested from the applicant can pause processing. Processing times vary, so check the current notice in LVIS rather than relying on a fixed estimate.

Verify Educator Credentials

The public-facing searches do not require an educator account. Use Educator License Search for Indiana licensure and history; use the separate Offense Search for the limited category of revoked or suspended licenses and permits it covers.

The 90-Day Rule You Need to Know

If the IDOE marks an application Additional Documentation Required, its teacher-licensing page says the application is held for 90 days and then closed. You must apply again and pay the applicable fee again. Fees already paid are non-refundable.

Common reasons a document may be returned include:

• CPR certificate without documented hands-on training. Online-only CPR courses that skip the mannequin-based practice component do not meet IDOE's current CPR requirement.
• Unofficial or incomplete transcripts. For applications that require them, transcripts should be official and show the degree earned and date conferred.

Set an earlier calendar reminder after any document-return notice so you have time to respond before the 90-day window closes.

Getting Help with LVIS Issues

For a portal or application question, use Contact Us inside LVIS and the current contact information on the IDOE educator-licensing pages. Questions about institutional recommendations or district-requested permits may need to go to your educator preparation program or school corporation.

Common technical issues and their fixes:

• Profile validation or account mismatch: Confirm that you used the email associated with any previous LVIS record. If it is not found, use the account-retrieval instructions rather than creating duplicate records.
• Document upload fails or times out: Keep files under 5 MB, use PDF format for multi-page documents, and make scanned documents legible. Follow any file-format or size instructions shown for your application.
• Can't find LVIS after signing in to Access Indiana: Navigate directly to license.doe.in.gov.
