PSI Plumbing Exam Colorado: Scheduling, Fees, and What to Expect

Colorado's plumbing license exams are administered by PSI Services — a third-party testing vendor, not DORA directly. The process of scheduling, paying for, and sitting for the exam has its own set of rules that are separate from the license application itself. And because Colorado uses an "exam-first" system, you need to pass the PSI exam before you even apply to DORA for your license.

The Exam-First System

In most states, you apply for a license, get approved, and then take the exam. Colorado flips the sequence. What the Exam Covers

All three tiers — residential, journeyworker, and master — test on the same body of material:

• Prohibited items: No personal belongings, writing tools, cell phones, smartwatches, or electronic devices of any kind in the testing room. Most centers provide lockers.

After You Pass
