DELPROS Delaware — How to Navigate the Licensing Portal
What DELPROS Actually Is
DELPROS — Delaware Professional Regulation Online Services — is the mandatory digital portal for every electrician license transaction in the state. Applications, renewals, service requests, and documentation uploads all run through this system. The Board of Electrical Examiners does not accept paper applications, so understanding how the portal works is not optional.
The portal handles more than just electricians. It serves all boards under the Division of Professional Regulation, which means the interface is generic rather than trade-specific. There are no built-in prompts telling you which documents the electrical board requires or warning you when a deadline is approaching. That responsibility falls entirely on the applicant.
Creating Your Account and Starting an Application
Registration is straightforward: visit https://delpros.delaware.gov/, create a user account with your personal details, and select the license type you're applying for. The system generates a unique file number tied to your application.
Here is where the first critical rule kicks in: you have exactly six months from the moment you initiate the application to submit all required fees, uploads, and third-party verifications. If anything is still missing when that window closes, DELPROS permanently deletes the entire file. You lose your non-refundable application fee, and you must restart from scratch.
This is not a soft deadline. Do not rely on a warning email as the expiration approaches; track the six-month deadline yourself because the file is permanently purged when the window closes.
The Document Submission Workflow
DELPROS collects your application fee and personal information, but the rest of the process depends on third parties:
Verification of Employment (VOE): Your supervising licensed electrician must submit this form directly to the Board office — not through the portal, and not handed to you for upload. If you upload a VOE form yourself, the Board will reject it. This single rule causes more application delays than any other requirement.
Board Review: Complete files are placed on the agenda for the next monthly Board meeting (first Wednesday of each month, except August and December). Your file must be complete at least 45 days before a scheduled exam date. Miss that window and you wait for the next meeting cycle — which can push your timeline back two months or more if you're near an August or December skip.
Exam Authorization: After the Board approves your file, you receive an email authorizing you to schedule your ProV exam. The Board Liaison forwards your information to ProV within one to two weeks. From there, you coordinate directly with ProV for scheduling.

Service Requests After Initial Licensure
DELPROS is not just for initial applications. Licensed electricians use it for:
- Insurance submissions: Master and Limited electricians submit proof of $300,000 general liability coverage through the "Submit Additional Documentation" service request. The license will not activate until this clears.
- Renewals: Biennial renewal before June 30 of even-numbered years. The portal tracks your CE compliance status.
- Address and employer changes: Any updates to your professional information must be filed through DELPROS.
- License verification: Both licensees and the public can search active licenses through the DELPROS lookup tool.
How to Avoid the Most Common Portal Problems
Assemble everything before you register. The six-month clock starts when you initiate the application, not when you upload your first document. Have your supervisor ready to submit the VOE form, your insurance certificate prepared (with your name explicitly listed), and your fees ready to pay.
Track the Board meeting calendar. The Board meets the first Wednesday of each month, skipping August and December. For an exam-track application, count backwards 45 days from the scheduled examination date to know your submission deadline. If your completed file arrives after the relevant cutoff, it rolls to the following month.
Keep a personal copy of every upload. DELPROS does not provide a document library or download history. If your application is purged at the six-month mark and you need to restart, you will need to resubmit every document.
Contact the Division directly when in doubt. The Board's customer service line is (302) 744-4500, and email support is available at [email protected]. If your file seems stuck or you are unsure whether a verification has been received, calling the office is far more reliable than waiting for a portal notification.
When the Portal Cannot Help You
DELPROS processes applications, but it does not explain the licensing requirements. It will not tell you which pathway is right for your experience level, whether your out-of-state credentials qualify for reciprocity, or how to handle a missing supervisor verification. Those are regulatory questions that require reading the Board's rules or calling the Division directly.
