SilverFlume and Project ORION for Nevada Notary Applications
What's Changing with Nevada's Notary Portal
The Nevada Secretary of State is replacing the SilverFlume Business Portal with Project ORION (Online Registration and Interactive Operations Network). Phase 1 launched in December 2025, covering UCC filings. Phase 2 — targeted for late summer 2026 — migrates business licensing, trademarks, and notary filings to the new system.
Once Phase 2 goes live, all notary applications, renewals, and eNotary registrations will run through projectorion.nv.gov instead of the legacy SilverFlume URL.
What Stays the Same
The underlying commissioning process doesn't change. You still need to complete the three-hour training course and pass the exam on the training portal, purchase your $10,000 surety bond, file the bond with your county clerk and get the Filing Notice, then submit everything to the state portal with a wet-signed application.
Your existing SilverFlume login credentials carry over to ORION — you don't need to create a new account.
The underlying document categories remain the same: wet-signed application PDF, county clerk Filing Notice, training certificate, and non-resident affidavits if applicable. After launch, use ORION's updated forms rather than legacy SilverFlume forms.
What Actually Changes
The ORION system introduces updated application forms. Any forms you downloaded or saved from SilverFlume will be rejected once the new portal launches. The system uses a unified work-order model with automated document verification designed to reduce document errors and minimize application rejections.
If you're mid-application when the transition happens, follow the Secretary of State's instructions for how in-progress applications will be handled. But to be safe, don't start an application you can't finish before the cutover if timing is tight.

The Training Portal Is Separate
The mandatory training course and exam live on training.nvsos-training.com, which is a separate system from both SilverFlume and ORION. That portal isn't part of this transition — your training certificate and exam results are unaffected regardless of when you apply.
Planning Around the Transition
If you're applying in mid-2026, you have two clean options: submit everything through SilverFlume before the cutover, or wait until ORION is live and use the new forms from the start. The worst timing is submitting legacy forms right as the system switches.
