What AKCCIS Is

The Alaska Child Care Information System (AKCCIS) is the CCPO's online portal for managing child care licensing. It's where you create your provider account, upload application documents, and track your licensing status throughout the process.

Every prospective child care home operator needs an AKCCIS account. Use the system to submit Form CC52 (Application for Provisional License) and the supporting documents that go with it.

Setting Up Your Account

Registration is straightforward. You'll create a login, enter your contact information and property address, and designate yourself as the primary administrator for the facility. Once your account is active, you can begin uploading documents.

The system generates a facility profile that your assigned licensing specialist will use to review your submission, schedule inspections, and communicate compliance findings throughout the licensing process and beyond.

What You Submit for the Application

Your initial application package includes several documents and steps:

• Form CC52 — Application for Provisional Child Care License (capacity, staffing plan, hours of operation)
• Floor plans — showing the layout of all rooms used for child care, including designated sleep areas, play areas, and outdoor spaces
• Emergency evacuation plan — Form CC67 ("Get Out Alive!") with primary and secondary escape routes from every room
• Written policies — behavior guidance policy, daily schedule, and parent handbook
• Form CC72 — Property Permission Form (signed by landlord/property owner if renting)
• Form CC103 — Firearms and Ammunition Storage Form
• Form CC105 — Animal on Child Care Facility Premises (if applicable)
• Training certificates — pre-licensing Health and Safety Basics, Mandated Reporting, pediatric CPR and First Aid
• Background check applications — submit through the NABCS Background Check Program for all household members 16+

Upload quality matters. Blurry scans, incomplete forms, and missing signatures are the most common causes of processing delays. Once the application package is complete, the licensing specialist can schedule your pre-licensing inspection.

After You Submit

Once your application is in the system, the CCPO—or, in Anchorage, the delegated Anchorage Health Department—assigns a licensing specialist to your file. The specialist reviews your documents, contacts you with any questions or missing items, and schedules your pre-licensing health and safety inspection.

Processing timelines vary — the complete licensing process typically spans two to six months depending on background check turnaround and inspection scheduling. AKCCIS gives you visibility into where your application stands, which is more than most states offer.

After you're licensed, AKCCIS remains your management portal. You'll use it for license renewals (Form CC94 for the biennial conversion), updating your facility profile, and responding to inspection findings.
